Acer has showcased an 8-inch gaming handheld that flips open to become a miniature laptop, testing whether one portable device can handle both entertainment and everyday work.

Unveiled at the company’s next@acer event in Berlin, the Project DualPlay Mini combines conventional handheld controls with a physical keyboard and support for an external display. Acer says the concept is intended for gaming and productivity tasks, including email, document editing, and communication.

For travelers and mobile workers, the design raises a practical question: Could a gaming handheld eventually handle enough everyday work to replace a laptop?
