Taiwan Breaks Ground on $217M Drone Park to Build a ‘Non-Red’ Supply Chain

News Room

Taiwan is putting new infrastructure behind its push to build a domestic drone industry. President Lai Ching-te on Sept. 28 opened the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology’s new Minxiong campus in Chiayi County and broke ground on an adjacent NT$6.86 billion, or roughly US$217 million, aerospace and drone industrial park.

The campus began operating that day, while the industrial park is scheduled for completion in 2028. The two sites are intended to connect government-backed drone research and testing with private manufacturing as Taiwan works to reduce reliance on Chinese suppliers and expand its role in the Asia-Pacific drone supply chain.
