Acer’s New $699 Laptop Is a Budget-Friendly Swing at Apple’s MacBook Neo

News Room

Acer has introduced the Swift Air 14, a new lightweight laptop designed to bring premium features to a lower price point while competing in the growing market for affordable, thin-and-light notebooks.

Announced ahead of Computex 2026, the Swift Air 14 combines an aluminum design, Intel’s latest Core Series 3 processors, AI capabilities, and long-battery-life claims in a package that starts at $699, putting it in competition with Apple’s MacBook Neo.

“With robust performance housed in a sophisticated design, this new laptop caters to the value the market needs, delivering advanced capabilities and AI features in an accessible laptop that is as refined as it is powerful,” said James Lin, General Manager of Notebooks at Acer Inc.

Thin design meets long battery life

The Swift Air 14 features a 14-inch WUXGA display with a 120Hz refresh rate and support for 100% sRGB color reproduction. Acer says the laptop weighs only 1.19kg and measures as little as 12.9mm thick. That makes it roughly the same weight as the MacBook Neo, though it is a fraction of a millimeter thicker.

The company claims the device can deliver up to 19 hours of battery life during video playback. Fast charging is also included, with Acer saying the battery can reach 50% capacity in about 30 minutes. The laptop will be available in four color options: Sage Green, Frost Blue, Blossom Pink, and Lilac Purple.

Powering the Swift Air 14 are Intel’s new Core Series 3 processors. Buyers can configure the laptop with either Core 5 or Core 7 chips, up to 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, and up to 512GB of storage, expandable to 1TB.

According to Acer, the system delivers up to 40 platform TOPS for AI workloads, while its dedicated neural processing unit can provide up to 17 TOPS.

Features focused on everyday users

Beyond its processor, Acer is emphasizing features consumers notice every day. The Swift Air 14 includes quad speakers with DTS Ultra Spatial Audio, a 1080p infrared webcam with a physical privacy shutter, Windows Hello facial recognition support, and AI-powered video conferencing enhancements via Acer’s PurifiedVoice and PurifiedView technologies.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, dual Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, and a USB-A port. The laptop also comes with a dedicated Copilot key and access to Acer’s AI software suite, including AcerSense and Acer Intelligence Space.

Acer also introduces Swift Spin 14 AI

Alongside the Swift Air 14, Acer announced the Swift Spin 14 AI, a more powerful convertible notebook featuring a 360-degree hinge.

The system can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H processor and delivers up to 100 platform TOPS, including up to 50 TOPS from its dedicated NPU. It supports up to 32GB of memory and 1TB of SSD storage.

The device is positioned toward users seeking greater flexibility, with support for an optional Acer Active Stylus and multiple usage modes, including laptop, tablet, presentation, and display configurations. Acer says the Swift Spin 14 AI can deliver up to 26 hours of battery life and includes Wi-Fi 7, a 5MP IR camera, biometric security options, and Copilot+ PC capabilities.
