The convenience of contactless payments can already feel magical, but Cash App is really leaning into that with its latest accessory. The mobile payment service is launching the Cash App Wand: an NFC-enabled, iridescent, star-topped wand that allows users to make on-the-go payments without pulling out their phone or card.
Cash Appâs alternative differs in that itâs more compact and uses a built-in NFC tag that pairs with an active Cash App Card. It comes with a keychain that you can attach to your belt or bag (provided youâre not worried about it being snatched, though this obviously doesnât look like a card). The accessory is designed to appeal to teens, with Cash App noting that 1 in 5 teenagers in the US are already using its Cash App Card.
The Wand is available for eligible customers ages 13 and up starting today for $25 through Cash App âwhile supplies last.â It works wherever Visa tap to pay is accepted and has built-in security features that allow you to lock or unlock it within the app, alongside real-time transaction alerts and 24/7 fraud monitoring support.
If youâre not into wands, then donât worry â this is the first of multiple planned Cash App Tags, and the company says itâs planning to drop limited runs of new Tag designs âin the coming weeks,â before making them generally available later this summer.
