Google AI Plus Price Drops to $4.99 as Storage Doubles to 400GB

News Room

Google’s cheaper AI tier just became a little harder to ignore.

Google AI Plus now costs $4.99 per month, down from its reported $7.99 launch price, and includes 400GB of cloud storage instead of 200GB. The plan is still aimed at individual users, but the lower price could make Gemini, NotebookLM, Gmail, and other Google-connected AI tools more appealing to professionals, freelancers, and small teams already working within Google’s ecosystem.

The change gives Google a more affordable entry point for users who want more than the free Gemini tier but don’t want to commit to a higher-cost AI subscription.

Google cuts the price while adding more storage

9to5Google reported that Google AI Plus now costs $4.99 per month, or the local equivalent in supported markets. Existing subscribers will see the lower price take effect at their next renewal, while the additional storage is rolling out over the coming days.

At launch in the US, the plan cost $7.99 per month and included 200GB of storage. The updated offering doubles that storage allocation to 400GB while reducing the monthly fee by roughly 38%.

“The storage increase is rolling out over the next few days, while the price decrease will come into effect with your next plan renewal,” 9to5Google stated.

Gemini and NotebookLM remain key selling points

While the price and storage are changing, the core feature set remains largely the same.

9to5Google noted that Google AI Plus includes higher Gemini usage limits than the free tier and a 128,000-token context window. Subscribers also gain access to features such as Daily Brief, Omni Flash video generation, scheduled actions, and expanded capabilities across Google’s AI portfolio, according to 9to5Google.

The subscription also includes increased access to NotebookLM, AI-powered Gmail features such as Proofread and AI Inbox, and additional usage allowance in Google Flow, AI Studio, and Antigravity.

Android Police said that users also gain access to Gemini 3.1 Pro and Deep Research features, making the plan a more capable option for users who regularly rely on Google’s AI tools for research, writing, and productivity tasks.

Google continues adjusting its AI pricing strategy

The lower-priced AI Plus tier is the latest sign that Google is refining how it packages and prices AI services.

Earlier this year, the company increased storage for its AI Pro plan to 5TB without raising the subscription price. During Google I/O 2026, Google also introduced a $100 AI Ultra tier while lowering the cost of its highest-tier option from $250 to $200 per month.

PhoneArena highlighted that the lower price makes Google’s paid AI tools more accessible for users who want more than the free Gemini tier but do not need a higher-cost subscription.

For business users, AI Plus is not a replacement for enterprise AI plans. But its lower price could make Google’s AI tools more appealing to individuals and small teams, raising the need for clear workplace AI policies.
