Samsung’s mega Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone was a landmark device, but after only three months since its release the tech giant is discontinuing it, and today is the last chance you’ll have to buy it if you missed out the first time around.
Today, Samsung will be restocking its online store with its last batch of Galaxy Z TriFold devices in the US after ending sales in South Korea following its final restock last month. It’s likely that this restock is Samsung’s opportunity to flog the last of its remaining tri-folding smartphones, but these will sell out fast.
Although the rather expensive production costs is one of the main factors for the discontinuation, Samsung never intended to launch the Galaxy Z TriFold as a permanent device in its lineup of Galaxy smartphones. When the company first listed the smartphone for sale, it was limited to customers in the US and South Korea, with the first two allotments being only 3,000 units each — significantly limiting availability.

That said, Samsung shared a statement with us last month saying “The Galaxy Z TriFold was introduced as a super-premium device in limited quantities. In Korea, the strong consumer response led to all available units sold out. Customers in other countries still have the opportunity to purchase the device”.
With the final restock looming, this is your last chance to get your hands on one of the most sought-after gadgets in recent years. But be warned, this will sell like hot cakes, so it’s best to get a game plan together to get ahead of other determined customers in the queue.
Here’s how you can increase your odds
As shared by u/ELITEtvGAMER on Reddit, there are a few pointers to note.
Firstly, you’ll want to have a Samsung store account created ahead of the sale — there’s nothing worse than being asked to sign in or create an account during the most crucial steps of checkout. And the same goes for payment methods.
If you’re asked to enter payment details while you check out, there’s a chance that the Galaxy Z TriFold could be removed from your basket during this time, as simply adding it to your cart doesn’t guarantee purchase. It’s different to sites like Ticketmaster who reserve your selected tickets in your basket with a countdown.
Unsure of how to add your card details? You could try adding an item to your basket (preferably something cheap in case you accidentally process the payment) and going through checkout to save your details that way, as the Reddit user suggests.
Once you’ve signed in and saved your payment details ahead of time, the next thing you could do to ensure a smooth experience is to familiarize yourself with Samsung’s online store and checkout process. That way, you’ll know how many steps you’ll need to follow and how quickly you need to act to ensure you bag the Galaxy Z TriFold before it sells out.
