This month’s new sci-fi movies on Hulu include Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Independence Day, both of which have been on the streamer many times before. For reasons that remain nebulous, they come and go. But what was the point of Disney buying all of Fox’s entertainment assets if not to give movies like these a permanent streaming home? It boggles the mind.
Ready Player One, the other prominent science fiction movie added to Hulu in September, is on loan from Warner Bros. Pictures. So it’s completely understandable why that film won’t be around on Hulu forever. But its inclusion does give Hulu a deeper lineup of movies to fall back on beyond the 20th Century Studios titles.
