Legendary has revealed the live-action Street Fighter movie will be released by Paramount Pictures on October 16, 2026, and its cast is absolutely stacked. In full, we’ve got:

We know this thanks to the official release of the film’s first posters (which you can catch up with in the social post below), complete with the promise it will “honor the quarter-pumping, button-mashing spirit of the 90s classic while leveling up for a new generation of fans”.
The full synopsis reads: “Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.
“But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they donât, itâs GAME OVER!”
Even if you are a longtime fan, we’ve got no idea if this is going to be one of the best video game movies of the worst video game movies… or do we?

It only takes a cursory Google or social media stalk to see people are not best pleased with the Street Fighter movie’s official explosion onto the scene. The above map isn’t the same as the one we see in the games, some of the mentioned characters have sprung out of nowhere, and the general casting vibes are dramatically off.
“They used the wrong world map,” one fan replied to the news on X/Twitter, with a second adding: “They are not even characterized as the characters, it’s just normal photos of the actors.”
Over on Reddit, feedback is even more scathing. “This is a ridiculously weird cast,” one fan writes, as another complains: “Absolute f**king garbage.”
But it’s my new best friend TheShadowWanderer who succinctly sums up how little Street Fighter has going in its favor. “I donât doubt that the cast can deliver solid performances, but my main concerns lie with the direction and the script,” the Redditor wrote. No actor can save a film thatâs poorly written or badly directed. Sure, people might enjoy parts of a flawed movie, but at the end of the day, a bad film is still a bad film.
“Given this is another video game adaptation, the odds statistically arenât in its favor. What they really need to nail is the balance between the goofy, over-the-top vibe that Street Fighter is known for and the serious moments that make for a compelling movie.”
I can almost hear Momoa rubbing his hands in glee after A Minecraft Movie made so much money, so what’s one more video game adaptation under his belt? Maybe there’s a universe where acting alongside 50 Cent makes sense, but unless footage can prove a faithful, smart adaptation is underway, I’m out.
