Qualcomm introduced two flagship smartphone processors on Sept. 22: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
Despite the branding, the two chips share most of their core hardware. Both use a 2nm process, the same 5GHz Oryon CPU configuration, Qualcomm’s X105 5G modem, FastConnect 8800, and the latest Hexagon AI architecture.
Extreme pulls ahead mainly in graphics, on-device AI capacity, and advanced video features. Qualcomm has used a similar Elite and Extreme split in its Snapdragon X2 laptop lineup, but the differences between these mobile chips are more focused.
