Notion and Todoist both offer multiple pricing plans in addition to a forever free plan that supports a limited number of users. Notion is more expensive than Todoist, but users also get more features with Notion, so the cost upgrade may be worth it for teams looking for small business project management software. However, if you’re just looking to manage your personal tasks, then I think that either free plan will probably meet your needs.
Notion pricing
Notion offers four pricing tiers:
- Free: This forever free plan costs $0 and allows you to upload files up to 5 MB and offers a 7-day page history.
- Plus: This plan costs $10 per user per month billed annually or $12 per user per month billed monthly. It allows you to upload unlimited files and offers a 30-day page history.
- Business: This plan costs $15 per user per month billed annually or $18 per user per month billed monthly. It allows you to upload unlimited files and offers a 90-day page history.
- Enterprise: This plan requires a custom pricing quote from the sales team and includes extra features such as unlimited workspaces and unlimited extensions.
The optional Notion AI costs $8 per user per month billed annually, or $10 per user per month billed monthly. A trial of the Business plan and a demo or trial for the Enterprise plan is available upon request.

Todoist pricing
Todoist offers three pricing tiers:

- Business: $6 per user per month if billed annually, or $8 per user per month if billed month-to-month.

Notion vs Todoist: Feature comparison
Task management
Winner: Notion
Both Notion and Todoist have excellent task management capabilities. You can create and organize tasks, set reminders, set up recurring tasks, and track task progress in both platforms.
Todoist does offer some collaboration tools, such as comments and the ability to assign tasks to someone, but many of these are paywalled behind the most expensive pricing plan.
Meanwhile, Notion offers more extensive tools, which is a major reason why its project management features scored well in our expert ratings. For example, Notion offers task dependencies, while Todoist does not. Todoist is great for individual use — in fact, I used it to manage my own personal do-so list for many years — but I recommend Notion for teams.
Project views
Winner: Notion
Notion offers six project views to choose from (table, list, kanban board, gallery, calendar, or timeline), while Todoist only offers three (list, calendar, and kanban board). While these options are a great start, the platforms do lack some popular project views, such as native Gantt charts, which I was disappointed to see.
For additional project views, you’ll need to rely on third party plug-ins, or switch to a more robust enterprise project management software.
Pre-built templates
Winner: Notion
Pre-built templates mean that you don’t have to start every project from scratch, saving you time and effort. That’s why I really appreciate that Notion offers so many templates (more than 10,000) that users can copy and customize to fit basically any project.
In Todoist, the pre-built templates are simpler and are geared toward creating and managing tasks. Users who want a quick task list setup will probably enjoy using Todoist more, but if you’re looking for a variety of templates, then Notion is the clear winner.
Note-taking
Winner: Notion
Notion offers specialized note-taking tools that are lacking in Todoist. These include the ability to create custom tables and databases, a wider range of formatting options, and media embedding tools. With Notion, I was also able to create a hierarchical structure within the notes by adding subpages and sections.
In contrast, Todoist only offers basic note-taking tools designed to provide context for specific tasks. You do have the option of integrating with different third-party note-taking apps to extend Todoist’s functionality, but if you’re looking for an all-in-one platform, then Notion is the clear choice here.
