‘Drives me crazy’: iOS 26.4 has fixed an infuriating keyboard bug, but one problem has still gone unsolved

Typing on your iPhone’s keyboard can at times be an exercise in frustration — between misspelled words and overzealous autocorrect interventions, typing what you want is sometimes harder than it should be. That’s why an apparent bug in iOS 26 has caused such consternation among Apple fans in recent weeks, but it looks like a fix is on the way in iOS 26.4.

The issue in question concerned so-called ‘missing characters.’ Many users found that iOS would sometimes ignore characters that were tapped when users were typing very quickly. This would force people to pause and then try the button again, slowing them down. Or the missing characters would cause autocorrect to misinterpret the word being typed, changing it to something that the user did not intend.
