News Room

Update 09/27/24: This marks the beginning of our coverage of this Prime Day event with Best Buy. Best Buy is currently doing a “Member Deal Days” sale through Sunday, to grab some attention *before* Amazon’s event begins. Many of the deals in this update, as a result, may be gone before the next update of the article.

With Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event starting officially on October 8 and 9, Best Buy has a chance to head up the sales and get attention. The game is on, so to speak. If you’re here early enough (before Sunday September 29), you can take advantage of Best Buy’s if you’re a Best Buy Plus or Total member. Those same members have a chance to get a $50 bonus reward whenever they spend $500 or more between now and October 20. So no matter what you want, including stuff like Dell Prime Big Deal Day deals, you might very well be best to check out Best Buy’s sale if you’re a member there. Here, we’re finding the best deals in the categories that matter the most to you, to keep your comparison shopping at a minimum. As you look, however, remember that many of the deals will end Sunday, so don’t hesitate too long before you snap up a deal you want.

Best Buy’s Big Deal Days TV deals

We’re going to do a longer listing of more and more elsewhere (our dedicated Best Buy Big Deal Days TV deals article), where we’ll cover a wider selection. But there’s no reason to not start checking out a few of the best deals here, too.

Insignia 50-inch Class F30 Series 4K — $220 $300 27% off

The Insignia 50-inch F30 Series 4K Smart Fire TV hangs in a living room.

Insignia is Best Buy’s brand, meaning that this is the best place to find a good deal on their products. This is a low cost TV with an extra $80 off for the sale. You won’t get your extra $50 bonus for spending $500 on this TV alone, of course, but if you aren’t trying to win spending awards, this is the TV to grab. Compare this 4K Fire TV to others on our best budget TVs listing if you like, to make sure it is a purchase for you.

TCL 65-inch Class Q6 Q-Class 4K QLED — $450 $500 10% off

TCL Q6 mounted on a wall in a bedroom.

This is the budget gamer’s TV. For example, we slotted it in as the budget pick among the best TVs for Xbox gamers, and this sale only makes that sort of thinking still stands now. Our TCL Q6 review has the tagline “the price is right” with a very fair analysis of the TV.  To sort of paraphrase the review, if you’re an average TV-viewer that doesn’t get upset about refresh rates or local dimming zones, you can buy this TV and be quite happy about it. Doesn’t sound like you? Keep reading.

Sony 65-inch Class Bravia 8 OLED 4K (2024) — $1,900 $2,800 32% off

2024 Sony Bravia 8 4K OLED TV.

This TV new-to-2024 TV represents a sort of mid-point in Best Buy’s deals at the moment. It’s a solid OLED TV, doesn’t have the extreme price point of TVs with a ton of extras, and you’d be an outlier if you weren’t satisfied by it. To put it all in perspective, at the moment of this writing it has a 4.9 review rating on Best Buy after 106 customer reviews, which include those where this wasn’t $900 off.

Samsung The Terrace 55-inch 4K Outdoor TV — $3,000 $3,500 14% off

The Samsung 55-inch The Terrace mounted outside.

It’s now fall and, if you want to spend more time outdoors, it might also be time to grab an outdoor TV. This TV is still visible in partial sun and is made to withstand the elements. Cookout and watch football while you do it this year, all while saving $500.

LG 83-inch Class G4 Series OLED evo 4K (2024) — $5,800 $6,500 11% off

LG G4 OLED

This TV is straight up considered one of the best TVs available and the best OLED LG makes. Our LG G4 OLED review goes so far as to call it the “finest television LG has ever made” and goes on to say that it is worth every penny you’ll spend on it. That’s always a good sign when something gets $700 off in a sale.

Best Buy’s Big Deal Days laptop deals

If you need a new laptop for the fall semester, new job, or anything else, you know that Best Buy is known for solid quality laptops, great gaming laptops, and some premium offerings. Here’s what we’re finding this time around.

ASUS 14-inch FHD — $120 $180 33% off

This ASUS 14-inch FHD laptop is cheap, and seems like a Chromebook but isn't.

This is the most budget acceptable laptop you’ll see. It’s small, cheaper than a tablet, and imitates the best Chromebooks in many ways (it has 64GB of eMMC storage, for example) while still maintaining the convenient Windows style. You won’t see laptops cheaper than this ($120) that often.

Dell G15 — $920 $1,150 20% off

This laptop offers a unique space between gaming and working. In fact, it is considered one of the best back to school gaming laptops by our resident gaming gear reviewer, Jacob Roach, who emphasizes its combination of affordability, gaming performance, and build quality. Save 20% on it now!

ASUS Rog Zephyrus G14 — $1,250 $1,600 22% off

Cyberpunk 2077 running on the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14.

If you want one of the best gaming laptops out there, this is the one with the best price point (at $350 off) over at Best Buy at the moment. Praised for its compact build, however, you can still sneak it in your backpack if you want. Jacob Roach’s ASUS Rog Zephyrus G14 review considers the laptop “damn near perfect” and highly praises the screen’s OLED panel and slick brightness.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 7th Edition — $1,500 $1,600 6% off

What’s the best deal in the sale? What’s the best laptop right now overall? Those two questions could have the same answer if you are a Best Buy Plus member and can get the extra $100 off on this laptop (plus the $50 for spending over $500). Be sure to read our Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 review to get cool info on the haptic feedback trackpad and more.

Microsoft Surface Pro 11 (1,000GB version) — $2,000 $2,100 5% off

The Microsoft Surface Pro 11 is the best 2-in-1 laptop around, and you can get an extra $200 off on it if you’re a Best Buy Plus member, plus get that $50 bonus. The neat feature about it is that if you buy the keyboard with it, you can fully detach that at any time to get a pure tablet. Our Surface Pro 11 review bills it as a true iPad Pro rival.

Apple AirPods 2.

The Apple AirPods 2 are now not just one but two generations out of date now that the AirPods 4 are here. Without quickly derailing this into an Apple deals post, there really are huge savings on slightly older Apple models at the moment. At $130 off, now could be the time to buy. Our iPad 9 review discussed how it was a good midpoint between quality and price, and that still holds true today.

Someone holding the Google Pixel 8 Pro, showing its lock screen.

With the Pixel 9 series out and about, the Pixel 8 Pro is getting the discount treatment with a sharp 35% off. This is my personal phone, and my first Pixel after years of being Samsung only, chosen because I believe it has more longevity than the latest Samsung models. Check out our Pixel 8 Pro review for a look at the phone and its exciting cam and AI photo features.

How to shop Best Buy on Prime Big Deal Days

The big think about Best Buy during this time is that you’re often going to get a similar deal you would get at Amazon. However, there will be moments where Best Buy (or Amazon) pulls the rug out from under the other. This will be especially so before and after the official days (October 8 and 9) of Amazon’s event.

If the prices and deals are the same, which will often be the case, is there still a reason to shop Best Buy? Yes!

Firstly, Best Buy sells a lot of products with a very easy to use trade-in discount as a bonus. Next, during this time (including before and after Amazon’s event ends) Best Buy is giving Plus and Total members a bonus $50 if you spend $500 or more. So, if you’re a Best Buy member it may actually behoove you to shop here over Amazon.

How we chose these Prime Big Deal Days deals

One of the greatest parts of working with Digital Trends is that we have an extensive team of reviewers, product researchers, and more. It isn’t a one person job. That means reviews, heavily researched buying guides, and our individual knowledge were all relied upon for this listing.

The deals above were selected for various reasons: for various customer types that we know frequent the site, excellent price points, the product comparing well to other products at the deal price, or is sometimes just something extra that you might not typically be thinking about but probably need (and, hey, its on sale).

While we’re keeping product descriptions short, look for our reasoning. You’ll see links to reviews and product guides, our thoughts, and glimpses of the competition throughout.
