Apple rarely reveals future hardware before launch. This time, an alleged supplier leak may have done it instead.

A newly surfaced diagnostics log, reportedly recovered from internal Tata Electronics files leaked by the World Leaks ransomware group, appears to reveal several camera details for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max ahead of its expected September launch.

According to Notebookcheck, the log shows Apple replacing the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s main camera sensor with Sony’s IMX905. While the sensor keeps the same 1.22-micron pixel size as its predecessor, the documents indicate the biggest change is support for a mechanical variable aperture rather than a larger sensor.

The diagnostics log reportedly includes calibration data tied to the aperture actuator, which Notebookcheck reported confirms the hardware support for the feature.
