- Outlander season 8 episode 9 will not be airing on May 2 in line with Starz’s weekly release strategy
- Instead, there will be a “skip week” with episode 9 airing on May 9 and episode 10 on May 16
- No reason has been given for why May 2 is being skipped over
Bad news, people — Outlander season 8 episode 9 isn’t airing on Starz (US) or MGM+(UK) on May 2 as expected.
Instead, episode 9 will now be airing on May 9, with the season finale episode 10 following suit on May 16. No reason has been given for the unexpected delay.

Obviously, this comes as a disappointment. We’ve just seen William (Charles Vandervaart) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) reunite, with the son emotionally asking his dad for forgiveness. Outlander season 8 has arrived at a place of healing, but now the brakes are being put on.
While we wait for an extra week for the next installment, the teaser trailer for prequel Outlander: Blood of my Blood season 2 proves why it’s the perfect binge in the meantime.

In case you missed it, the Outlander world has quietly expanded in the last year. Debuting in 2025, Outlander: Blood of my Blood follows Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie’s parents Henry (Jeremy Irvine), Julia (Hermione Corfield), Brian (Jamie Roy), and Ellen (Harriet Slater), from World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th-century Scotland.
We’ve seen each pair fall in love, fall into trouble, and fall down the same time-traveling rabbit hole that their children eventually do years later. But what comes next remains a mystery.
Set to debut later in 2026, Outlander: Blood of my Blood season 2 was greenlit before season 1 had even premiered, so I’d bet good money on future seasons being commissioned as time goes on.
Details are few and far between for upcoming episodes, but star Irvine told TechRadar, “You’ll see your characters at the end of season 1, and then where they start season 2 is wildly not what you’d expect.
“I wasn’t expecting it. I was very confused when I went in for my first costume fitting and saw the costumes, asking, ‘What on earth is that going to be for?'”
Both seasons were filmed back-to-back, so we can expect more news to be announced sooner rather than later.
