Spoilers for Something Very Bad is Going to Happen ahead.
Not every TV show needs to be renewable, and new Netflix series Something Very Bad is Going to Happen feels like a horror standalone.
True to the show title, things begin to go downhill in the most emotionally scarring way possible once the pair arrives there for the wedding. By the time the wedding day comes, Rachel is in full ‘final girl’ mode.

Surely then, if she’s the last one standing (at least, metaphorically), there’s no need for a second season of the new horror series?
However, Morrone’s got her own ideas for (the currently unconfirmed) Something Very Bad is Going to Happen season 2, and they just might work.
‘She’s basically immortal, so now what?’

“How does it feel to be a final girl? It is really great,” Morrone tells me. “I’m really happy that Rachel made it out, and I think it’d be exciting to see where she would take that new second chance at life and being the witness in season 2.
“What is she gonna do with it? I mean, she’s immortal now, so it’s like, now, what? What’s next, and how’s she gonna use her powers?”
It’s an incredibly fair point, though the concept of being a classic horror final girl — which is basically the last woman left standing — hasn’t actually occurred to Morrone at all. If anything, Rachel is the epitome of the 2020s horror scene, up there with Grace Le Domas in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, and Deena Johnson in the Fear Street trilogy.
“The feminist in me loves that Rachel prevails and that she’s the one who comes out the hero of her own story,” Morrone continues.
“It’s such a badass final scene, the epilogue,” DiMarco adds. “It’s very cool that she rejects what’s not serving her at the last minute. You’ve got to stay true to yourself and your gut.”
Personally, I’d have left the moment I found out the family stuffed their pet dogs and left them in the hallway, but to each their own. Maybe Something Very Bad is Going to Happen season 2 would be a little less weird… if Netflix goes ahead with it.
