- Netflix has confirmed cast members for its Assassin’s Creed TV series
- We also know that Chernobyl‘s Johan Renck will direct
- Plot and release date details are still under wraps
Netflix has partnered with Ubisoft for an Assassin’s Creed TV series, and at first, I wasn’t convinced. But after seeing the new cast announcement, I’m feeling hopeful that the best streaming service can give us a good adaptation.
It’s hard to ignore the failure that was the Assassin’s Creed movie, and it’s woeful 18% Rotten Tomatoes score. Despite the fact it had an all-star cast attached, it ultimately fell short in so many areas.
But in an era of good video game adaptations like The Last of Us and Fallout, I’ve started coming around to the idea of an Assassin’s Creed show. It would certainly help with the pacing, and the cast has already caught my eye, which is a good sign.

Recently, Netflix confirmed that the following names would be starring in its upcoming series.
- Toby Wallace
- Zachary Hart
- Lola Petticrew
- Laura Marcus
- Tanzyn Crawford
- Noomi Rapace
- Ramzy Bedia
- Sean Harris
- Corrado Invernizzi
There’s a real mix here and it doesn’t rely on a massive Hollywood ensemble to try and sell the show more, which fills me with optimism.
Names that stand out to me are Noomi Rapace, who I especially loved in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Sean Harris who has starred in some of my favorite horror movies like Creep and Possum.
Elsewhere, Zachary Hart has appeared in the Apple TV show Slow Horses, where you may recognize him from and Tanzyn Crawford is in HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Meanwhile, Lola Petticrew led the historical drama Say Nothing and Laura Marcus will be in the upcoming Hunger Games movie, Sunrise on the Reaping.
With a diverse cast of talent, it feels like Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed has some serious potential. On top of this, it has also been confirmed that Johan Renck, who is best known for directing HBO’s Chernobyl will direct the Assassin’s Creed show, per reports by Variety.
The plot is still shrouded in mystery, with a logline from Tudum teasing: “Assassin’s Creed is a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.”
It’s still too early to fully gauge how well the series will perform, but I’m keen to give it a go.
