- Outlander: Blood of My Blood episode 10 will air on Starz on October 10, 2025
- No official reason for the two-week delay has been given
- Outlander season 8 is due to premiere in early 2026
Bad news, Outlander: Blood of My Blood fans – episode 10, which is also the season finale, won’t air on Starz until October 10, 2025. Following the weekly release schedule so far, the finale should have aired today (October 3), but instead has a two-week delay.
There’s been no official comment from either Starz or Amazon MGM+ on why the scheduled change has been implemented, but there are plenty of general reasons for why this could be. As we know from recent delays (such as the South Park season 27 breaks), some TV shows like to have longer weekly gaps between episodes for production purposes, and there’s every chance this is the case here.
However, the fangirl in me has another explanation, and the ending of Outlander: Blood of My Blood episode 10 trailer completely backs up my theory. In short, we only have to look to Outlander season 8 for answers.
Opinion: Outlander: Blood of My Blood’s season finale could cross over with Outlander
Watch On
When I say Outlander season 8, what I’m really referring to is Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) storyline. In the main series, she’s an adult with her parents a fragment of the past, experiencing the same time-travel dilemmas as parents Henry (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia (Hermione Corfield) did many years before.
But the two shows might finally directly intersect. In the first moments of the episode 10 trailer, we see Henry surprise Julia with a trip away, watching the pair board a train to Inverness. But note the time difference – this scene clearly takes place before they end up in 1700s Scotland.
This means we’re likely to see their family bid the pair farewell as they stare out of the train window. Logically, this is likely to include a younger version of Claire, who had already been born before the events of Outlander: Blood of My Blood began.
Personally, I’d like to see this lead to Balfe herself appearing in time for the season finale cliffhanger. Time wise, we know it’s realistically possible for adult Claire to cross paths unknowingly with her parents after traveling through time, and that would create the ultimate emotional shock.
For this to feasibly be pulled off, it makes sense that the season finale took longer to develop, as it needs to coincide with the Outlander season 8 schedule in order for Balfe to appear (and keep the surprise successfully under wraps). Basically, this could easily explain the delay.
There’s another giveaway, too. When I spoke to Irvine and Corfield shortly after the series began, they told me they had no idea how season 1 was going to end. Four separate endings have been filmed, which is a great tactic to keep spoilers from leaking.
If you ask me, this is all leading towards the season crossover we’ve been waiting for, and with Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 already being filmed, everyone’s a winner.
