- South Park season 27 episode 5 isn’t on this week
- The delay is due to a scheduled two-week break between episodes across the season
- Episode 5 will now air on September 17 instead
We’re not heading back to see Eric, Kenny, Kyle and Stan just yet, as South Park season 27 episode 5 won’t be on this week. If you’ve been watching season 27 since its first episode’s controversial premiere, you’ll know each episode has had a two-week delay between airing, and that’s now a permanent change to the release schedule.
Episode 5 will now air on September 17, which means we’ve got a gap in our streaming schedule. Your first alternative watch is to catch up with the previous four South Park episodes in the season, which are all streaming on Paramount+ in the US, UK and Australia. If you’ve not seen any of them yet, strap in.
President Trump has been naked in bed with the devil, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has shot puppies at point blank range, and Towelie’s trip to Washington D.C. shone a spotlight on the city’s National Guard deployment. Oh, and Labubu’s were the biggest enemy in episode 4 rather than Trump’s tariffs.
Creators want more time than usual to put episodes together, and given how much happens on the daily in US politics, that’s understandable. So, while we wait a whole seven days for the next episode of South Park, Paramount+ has the ideal binge in the interim.
Opinion: Watch South Park The Streaming Wars on Paramount+ while you wait for South Park season 27 episode 5
Before there was season 27, there was South Park The Streaming Wars. Released in 2022, the television special saw Cartman lock horns with his mum in a battle of wills, while an epic conflict unfolds and threatens South Park‘s existence.
But that’s not all! A second part (South Park: The Streaming Wars Part 2) was released shortly after, showing Randy Marsh’s return as the geologist we always knew he was, alongside the official reveal of ManBearPig’s family. In a nutshell, both parts are essential to understanding years worth of South Park lore.
The Streaming Wars specials are slightly lighter on laughs than usual, but that’s the perfect segue into the heavy social and political parodies season 27 is heavily leaning on. Plus, it might be wise for us to have a well-timed break from watching US politicians doing things we’d rather they didn’t – there’s going to be plenty more airtime for any version of Trump.
Of course, these aren’t the only South Park specials you can catch up with in the meantime. South Park: The End of Obesity, South Park: Post COVID: The Return of COVID, South Park Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children) are all on Paramount+ in the US, UK and Australia too, alongside the South Park: 25th Anniversary Concert if you’re looking for something slightly different.
There’s even better news if you haven’t signed up to Paramount+ yet and live in the US, because you can get a discounted annual subscription for either of its plans (see details below). The platform is also set to introduce a multi-view feature [via Variety] for sports and later news and entertainment, which essentially means you could stream both shows at once… and still have room for two more channels. Talk about the best streaming service out there (or at least one of them).
