- Walmart+ is adding Peacock as a new membership benefit
- Members will be able to choose between the NBC streamer and Paramount+Â
- The option will be available from September 15Â
The Walmart+ membership will soon not only offer a free Paramount+ subscription as one of its many benefits, but the option to pick between Paramount’s streamer and Peacock instead.
From September 15, the retail giant is set to offer members the ability to choose between the two best streaming services at no extra cost, expanding the number of benefits from just three in 2020 to 12 in 2025.
Like the Paramount+ perk, members will only have the option to sign up to Peacock’s ad-supported plan, which means you’ll be restricted to the ‘Premium’ tier’s features, such as no downloads or local NBC live TV channels.
The addition of Peacock to Walmart+ is ideal for anyone that regularly hops between streaming services to save money by not having multiple subscriptions, because the retailer is also offering the option to switch between the two streamers after a certain period of time.
That means if you pick Peacock when you first sign up to Walmart+, you’ll still have the option to switch to Paramount+ after 90 days. In fact, after every three months, members will be given the choice to switch, making it even easier to catch up on all the latest entertainment.
How does Walmart+ compare to Amazon Prime?
When Walmart launched its membership package in late 2025, it didn’t take long for many to compare Walmart+ to Amazon Prime. The two retails giants are among the most popular with consumers for their everyday shopping, and buying a membership is a great way to save money.
A retail membership soon became much more than just free deliveries too, with Amazon adding benefits like free access to Amazon Music and Prime Video, among others. Walmart also bulked up its membership perks with the addition of Paramount+ in 2022.
So, will adding the option to choose between Paramount+ and Peacock make Walmart+ better than Amazon Prime? The answer largely comes down to your shopping habits, and which retailer you use more, but looking at it from a video on-demand perspective, Walmart+’s added streaming perk certainly offers a bit more value.
After all, why restrict yourself to one streaming service when you can jump between two to watch more TV shows and movies you can’t find elsewhere? Prime Video may have the biggest movie library out of all the major streaming services, but Paramount+ and Peacock are viable rivals.
Of course, you can subscribe to other streamers directly on Prime Video, including to Peacock and Paramount+ by adding either or both as streaming channels, but this will cost you the regular subscription prices for whichever plan you choose.
Considering that Peacock announced its biggest price hike ever in July, Walmart’s newest membership perk is a great way to save money on the cost of Peacock by paying nothing at all for the service.
