It’s time to schedule some pre-holiday season time in front of your TV. With the festive break now in full effect for most of us, I suspect you’ll be loading up one or more of the world’s best streaming services to watch the latest new movies and shows that have arrived.
There’s lots to choose from, too. From returning hit shows and the streaming debut of a recent Universal Pictures film, to a comedy special and another live sports event on Netflix, you’re spoiled for choice this weekend. It’s time to head back into the Wasteland, Vaulties. Fallout season 2 has finally emerged from its underground bunker on Prime Video and, just like its forebear, its premiere has already set the stage for another banging installment of the hugely popular show.
Reuniting us with Lucy, Maximus, The Ghoul, and Dogmeat, the Fallout TV show’s sophomore season will explore more of the franchise’s wacky and dangerous dystopia.
Indeed, from introducing characters like Mr. House, trips to iconic locations including New Vegas and Novac, and more besides, season 2 of Amazon’s adaptation of the Fallout videogame series looks like it’ll be another slice of unmissable television. Does Emily in Paris season 5 really live up to its namesake, or are we about to stream Emily in Rome season 1?
Lily Collins’ titular character has planted roots in the Italian capital, heading up the Italian division of Agence Grateau. However, this doesn’t mean she’s free from drama because her budding relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) isn’t the fairytale ending she was hoping for, and representing his family brand Muratori is like jumping through endless PR hoops.
Frankly, I’m welcoming the change of scene, and Marcello to boot. We definitely haven’t seen the last of Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), but I really want this Italian getaway to work out. – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter
One Battle After Another (HBO Max)

Sometimes, sitting down to watch an 142-minute movie is a shock to the system, but occasionally, it’s worth the effort. Awards season alone will tell you that One Battle After Another , which is out now on HBO Max, is one of the rare few that cannot be missed, with director Paul Thomas Anderson’s black comedy taking the industry by storm.
Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Bob, a once-upon-a-time revolutionist who’s now solely fuelled by paranoia. When daughter Willa (Chase Infiniti) goes missing, Bob has to confront his tainted past to get her back.
Loud, off-the-wall, and extreme in every possible meaning of the word, One Battle After Another is truly one of this year’s best movies. It even manages to make dissecting ongoing culture wars feel fresh, but that’s just a day in the life for Anderson. – JV

Jordan Peele is back with divisive new movie Him (to be fair, he’s only produced it!). Considering he’s had hits with Get Out and Us, this film’s 30% Rotten Tomatoes score might shock you. Still, if you’ve been meaning to watch it, it’s out now on Peacock.
Him follows a rising football star as he’s invited to train at a legendary quarterback’s isolated compound. While there, he discovers a cult-like world of obsession and sacrifice.

Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately? (HBO Max)
Music lovers, listen up. Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately? does exactly what it says on the tin, charting the rise of the synonymous band. HBO claims it’ll be one of the most intimate behind-the-scenes portrayals we’ve ever seen and I think we can see that from the trailer.
Indeed, we’ll be treated to sit-down interviews with present and former bandmembers, plus music contemporaries, alongside rare archival footage and personal photographs. Personally, I’m looking forward to learning more about the story behind their breakout hit ‘Mr. Jones’.
There’s a mix of personal and professional battles peppered throughout their entire story, and I think it could be one of the streaming service’s strongest musical documentary releases to date. – JV

After a long week, an hour’s worth of stand up comedy is just what the doctor ordered. If you’re in the mood to switch off and laugh at the storytelling prowess of Kumail Nanjiani, then I’ve got the perfect pick for you following its Hulu and Disney+ debut.
Nanjiani returns to Chicago after a decade away, a city that’s special to him as that’s where he got his start in stand up. You may be familiar with his work on Silicon Valley, The Big Sick, Eternals, and various other movies and shows, and he’s just an entertaining when it’s simply him and a microphone.
Here, he discusses themes like anxiety, the perils of buying drugs pre-legalization, and finally, cat medication. You know, as you do. – LB
Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua (Netflix)

Live from the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, Netflix is whipping out the boxing ring once more to bring us the highly-anticipated fight between it’s Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua.
Preliminary rounds begin at 1:45pm PT / 4:45pm ET if you want to watch the whole thing but, if you’ll just just tuning in for the main event, it’ll start at 5pm PT / 8pm ET.
Regardless of what Netflix plan you have, it’ll be available to all. It’s set to be a fascinating match-up, too as World Boxing Association–ranked cruiserweight Jake Paul takes on the two-time unified heavyweight world champion in Joshua. Will it be viewed by more people than Paul’s last bout? We’ll have to see. – LB
