Prime Video is light on brand-new entries this month, but there are still three TV shows that caught my eye in April.
Most notable is The Boys season 5, with the next installment being the fifth and final outing for the satirical superhero series. It’ll be a shame to see it go, but I can’t wait to tune in to the final episodes to see how it ends.

The Boys season 5
Watch On
When: April 8
The Boys is coming to an end this year, beginning this month on Prime Video, and the season finale will land on May 20. As a result, we’ve got a bit of a run until we need to say goodbye to one of the best Prime Video shows for good, but let’s start by enjoying it this month, hey?
The official synopsis for the season teases that everyone will be subject to the “erratic, egomaniacal whims” of Homelander, everyone’s favorite deeply problematic superhero. And I use the term “hero” loosely, of course.
There’s a lot going on, as Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a ‘Freedom Camp’, Annie struggles to mount a resistance, and Kimiko has disappeared off the face of the earth. Oh, and Butcher’s back with a virus that will eradicate all Supes. So strap yourself in, it’s going to be a crazy ride.
American Gladiators
Watch On
When: April 17
American Gladiators returns for a new rebooted version of the iconic game show, as season 1 lands on Prime Video this month.
WWE SmackDown wrestler Mike ‘The Miz’ Mizanin is on hosting duties, with the US following in the footsteps of the UK, which recently revamped its version of Gladiators for the BBC and saw huge success with it.
24 contenders face the 16 resident Gladiators of the show in a series of grueling physical challenges, before taking on the terrifying Eliminator at the end of each episode. In the end, only one female and one male will win the grand prize of $100,000.
It’s exciting stuff, and I’ll be watching it with my feet up, knowing I wouldn’t stand a chance against any of those Gladiators. More power to the contenders, though.
Kevin
Watch On
When: April 20
Finally, all eight episodes of Kevin drop on April 20, and this one is certainly binge-worthy if you’re in the mood for a good laugh.
After the unexpected break-up of his human “owners,” the titular Kevin the cat moves into a local pet rescue in Astoria, Queens, where a chaotic band of misfit animals helps him to figure out what he really wants out of life.
There’s a great voice cast here, including Jason Schwartzman, Aubrey Plaza (who is also the series creator), Whoopi Goldberg, John Waters, Aparna Nancherla, Gil Ozeri, and Amy Sedaris, which has made me very keen to tune in and see what this show is like.
